That awkward moment…

I recall this one time when Chandler W. invited me to his birthday party. Now, I didn’t know anyone named Chandler, but Chandler had the same exact last name as Haley, a girl in my Spanish II class. And his last name was pretty uncommon, not like Smith or Jones or anything like that. So my first thought when I saw the invitation was: Hmm, I didn’t know Haley’s real name was Chandler. (Since I heard of girls who had Chandler as their first name.) After I read the invitation thoroughly, I left a message on Chandler’s answering machine saying that I could attend the party.

My gift to Chandler was a princess-themed gift card from the Disney store. When I arrived at his party, I noticed that Haley was nowhere to be seen, so… I went up to this guy (who I’ve seen for the first time) and asked if he knew anyone named Haley. And he goes, “Oh yeah! She’s my cousin.” And I’m just standing there thinking, Oh wow… well, this is just… awko taco.* But since I saw several other people I knew there, I did not feel the need to leave the scene. Also, I thought that Haley was going to be there later since she was Chandler’s cousin, but she never arrived. Long story short: I pretty much crashed the party. (When Daddy dearest picked me up that night, I remembered my locker neighbor Jinny C. [same last name, though not related to me in any way] I believe the invitation was meant for her.)

Chandler and I attend the same school. But we never have spoken to each other after that one incident. I guess that’s nothing to feel bad about since we didn’t speak to each other before the incident either. But I do feel a teensy bit bad about not ever saying a word to him about the miscommunication. :|

Just a little anecdote I wanted to share with my 25 followers. Ü

*”Awko taco” is Stephanie’s phrase. Just wanted to acknowledge that.

I remember last year in my APUSH class, the teacher instructed everyone to pass their test corrections to Jenny. He didn’t specify whether to pass them to Jenny P. or me (Jenny P. sat near the back of the room by the way), but everyone had an unspoken agreement that the papers were to be passed to Jenny P. It sort of made me dejected.
